Good mornin’ :-D!

I ended up not getting chemo yesterday afterall due to increasing neurological side effects from the drugs.  I had a doctor’s appointment, got blood work (looks good) and had an infusion of IV Herceptin (which I’ve also been on that  I’ll continue for a year which targets the aggressive “Her 2” component of the cancer).  The two chemo drugs I’ve been taking (Carboplatin and Taxotere) will either be given as  half doses next Monday or we’ll eliminate the final #6 infusions altogether. The doctor will re-evaluate my symptoms later this week to see if they are improving  and likely we will make a decision together on how to best proceed then.  I would appreciate prayer for God’s wisdom, healing, and direction.  God can use chemo as a tool but it’s not like God “needs chemo” (or anything else for that matter) to heal me.  I keep thinking of this verse: “My soul, my soul, wait thou only upon God, for my expectation is found in Him”.  My ultimate hope lies in Him alone, not in any of the things we are doing or not doing.  I figure He’s the only One who can really make the treatments  “work” or “not work”. and reality is that I am absolutley safe and secure in His Hands, with the assurance that I can trust Him to do what is His very best!  What a great arrangement to have a Heavenly Father who not only personally designed and created my body, but Who also is my very own Great Physican right here with me 24/7/365!

I just started reading a library book (have several good books going) by Max Lucado called “Fearless”.  Great title for a great truth that applies to how we can live as His children.

“But Jesus spoke to them at once.“Don’t be afraid, he said.  “Take courage, I am here!”Matthew 14:27 (NLT)

337.. Kelley’s mastectomy and the start of reconstruction went great yesterday: looks like non-invasive breast cancer, clear margins,  with nodes negative for cancer.  Hooray!  I am so happy and relieved for/with her.  🙂
338.. I can rest in God’s direction that I did not receive the last dose of chemo yesterday afterall because of the neurological side effects from the drugs–half doses of chemo to to either be postponed til next Monday or skip altogether
339.  Verona and Darrell and so many precious friends and family members to love!

Oh my gosh!! That’s wonderful!! I hope and pray you will not have to do #6 and your cancer is gone!! Praying for your side effects to heal completely.

    Love & Big Bear Hugs!!

  2. Terry says:

I too am thankful that the doctor is watching those signs and not just bulldozing ahead with his plans. That is an encouragement to me and what a blessing to know that all of this time your bloodwork has been looking good. That is an answer to prayer 🙂

  3. Lillie says:

    Dear Paula,

I read something neat this morning and want to share it with you.

“God loves to bless you. He has even declared that ‘blessings shall come upon you and overtake you.’ This means that you can’t run fast enough to escape them! When you turn one corner, there is a blessing waiting for you. When you turn another corner, you run smack into another blessing!

“Today, it is no longer a question of how much or how well you have kept God’s commandments. It is a question of how much you can believe God for His blessings. All the promises of God in Christ are ‘Yes’, and because you are in Christ, you can say ‘Amen!’ to His blessings. (2 Cor. 1:20)

    Be blessed today.

    Love, Lillie
