Be Still and Know That He is God

This morning I am meditating on Psalm 46:10…a great place to hang my hat and think about awhile.  This is a beautiful song referring to that verse:

Psalm 46:10 (NIV)

10 He says, “Be still, and know that I am God;
    I will be exalted among the nations,
    I will be exalted in the earth.”

God calls me:

To “Be still” (   from רפה râphâh in Hebrew –  it means  to cast down; to let fall; to let hang down; then, to be relaxed, slackened, especially the hands)

-To be at a place of quiet rest in my heart, letting go, releasing, being at peace, calm, tranquil, it is to stop my striving and settle down and rest and trust

-It’s a  a ceasing of my own striving, a setting to rest all frantic activity, submitting myself to God, to allow God to quiet my noisy soul

-It’s chilling out and relaxing, letting go and dropping the stuff and such at His Feet that weigh me down

—————-

…and KNOW that He is God

-To Know in this context means “to properly ascertain by seeing” and “acknowledge, be aware.”

-Taking ownership that He is who He says He is, believing it, applying it

-It’s being calmly confident in Him, His character, who He is, what He can do…not just “head knowledge” but way down deep in my heart

—————————–

He is exalted, lifted up, valued honored, glorified among the nations in all the earth as well as in my own life.
